I’m curious as to all of your thoughts on this Voigtlander 75/1.5 vs the Leica 75/2 APO.

From the sample photos I’ve seen, the Voigtlander 75/1.5 has more character, while the 75/2 APO is a bit more corrected and say...possibly...sterile? I have the 75/2 APO and was thinking about selling it for this Nokton 75/1.5, but I suffer quite a bit from sellers remorse. Haha! Anyways, I know selling the 75/2 APO would definitely cover the cost of a new Nokton 75/1.5 with some extra to spare (that 50/3.5 Heliar does look tempting...), but what are your thoughts on the two lenses?

75mm APO has the same design formula as 50lux which is one of my favorite lens. It offers very nice bokeh that also has FLE to improve close range contrast. (a con for VC75mm if you want high contrast close range shooting) it is only about 430g, which is not much heavier than nocton. If I have 75APO, I will not consider Nocton myself but that is just me. My past experience is selling a leica seems always having sellers remorse in the end

Usually, I have a hard time to justify both 50 and 75 when I travelling as I seldom took both, but for a day of city out shooting, take 35 and 75 seems make a lot of sense.

Nokton 75 has nice bokeh and I like it and as mentioned I feel the biggest selling points are speed, size, price for a Leica M users to cover additional(maybe not used often) focal without breaking bank. I kept my 90APO M, as each has its own merits and its use, having a 90 APO and 75APO is maybe too much for me but not a problem with Nocton 75mm I feel, of course its size and performance are cherry on top.

Thank you for your input! I’ve sold my fair share of Leica gear over the years and one thing I’ve learned is that I always miss them when they’re gone. I actually miss the lenses more when they’re gone, the bodies not as much. I must be weird, as I love the 50mm and 75mm focal lengths. Despite them being relatively so close in focal length, I have a much easier time getting my composition right and nailing focus (on a Leica body). I generally stay away from lenses wider than 50mm on Leica bodies since I wear glasses (and cannot wear contacts) which obstructs the frame lines within the rangefinder and frustrates me to no end. Even with Sony’s great EVF, I still migrate to normal and longer focal lengths...which is why I was very curious about this Nokton 75/1.5. I just gel with the 75mm focal length and seeing a lot of photos taken with it reminds me of the Nokton 50/1.5 I once owned. To me, the 75/1.5 has a lot of the 50/1.5 character and rendering. Since I like to put my subjects about a 1/3rd into the frame, I use to struggle with my subject’s eyes/face being in focus with the 50/1.5, which I hope this 75/1.5 doesn’t have the same issue. Sharp in the center, but with mid-field drop off. I don’t recall my 75 APO giving me such trouble, but then again it’s an f/2 and a bit better corrected. I’m just really drawn to the Nokton’s wide open rendering. Perhaps this is a situation where owning both lenses would be better as one could chose the look their after, but at the same time risk putting a lens off for a long time that would bring back that whole “should I sell this lens since I rarely use it?”......which can lead to some pretty bad sellers remorse much later.

Thank you for your reply! I’m going to sit on this one for a while. I have a fond attachment to the 75mm focal length and the 75 APO doesn’t really disappoint. It may be that I’m just looking for something a little different and not as a replacement.
