Re: Sony-shooters thoughts on the Canon R5/R6

I am not a video guy, so there is nothing really interesting me anymore. The a9ii is our main camera and solved the issues we had with the a9. The a7riv is there for high res work. The A9ii stacked sensor is still the important thing I don't want to miss anymore - the ingredient making the difference. Using it most of the time spoils you. Using the A7riv, one thinks it to be slow and sluggish in comparison ;-)
As the 1dxiii isn't able to surpass the A9 in AF performance, the R5 won't either, to the contrary. I cannot imagine it to be equal to Canons sport flagship in AF performance.

But, Canon now has a serious competitor. Many Canon shooters will like it. I see 8k as marketing gimmick. 1TB cards give you 51 min at most, I read. I think the A7siii will surprise us.

I doubt too many photographers will buy the R5, at least in Germany, *right now*. Covid19 caused too many to have almost no income this year, we know many many being in serious financial trouble. So enthusiasts are the ones going for it I guess. But that could change next year.

Will be interesting to see how performance turns out after the dust settles and spec-fanatics see reality more clearly. But maybe the R5 surprises us?
