Finally after many lunar cycles of searching, found a mint example the all chrome H.C 50/2 LTM with original caps and leather case at a down to earth price tag. The build of the tiny lens is stunning and much heavier than its size would indicate. It is amazing that a lens that has celebrated 60+ birthdays can be in this sort of condition. May have to pick up a couple more.
Took the new toy to the Conservatory Garden for an initial test drive, all @ f/2.8:
The new model which happens to be very easy to work with:
Fuji XE-1
Take care,
Serge
Serge great find!
They are definitely heavy for their size. Chrome plated brass. If you don't have a hood for it, look for the Nicca 40.5mm clamp on hood (rectangular shape). That may be another search but well worth it. Will look great on your Fuji. For reference, I got one in mint shape with the Nicca leather pouch for $43
I see Samy is already pushing you to other 50mm and I agree with him. Especially the 5cm f/3.5 if you want small and sharp.
If you want to go wider and get close to "normal" focal length on your Fuji, I highly recommend the 3.5cm f/2.5.
I used these lenses a lot back when I had an X-Pro. The short adapter makes a great match. You do loose some of the unique character due to the crop but are still terrific lenses for the Fuji
Good luck with the hunt
George
Thanks, George.
It was a long road as the vast majority are well used or with issues and priced at a high altitude. For someone that goes after only minty lenses, it was not an easy walk in the park. It was a big plus to find this one from a US seller which would have made a return easy plus much lower shipping cost.
I think the next target may be the 3.5cm f/2.5. You have posted several images with the little gem and seems to be a terrific performer. The tiny size is a nice bonus.
The thin adapter makes a huge and pleasant difference on the Fuji plus inexpensive @ $12.99. The F mount adapter is a bit of a bear on small camera bodies.
I was on a search for the hood and picked up the Marumi short metal hood which should arrive next week.
