Sorry, I didn't mean to derail (at least I think is as at fault), I was merely asking a question that is common now.
In my neck of the woods country of manufacture is not only important, it's a legal obligation to note when marketing a product.
Some sites are carful to post it, like Ken Rockwell (I couldn't think of another example), although Ken, imo, is racist when he does so, tying the COM to expected quality.
