Our local peregrine falcons are working hard for the future generation right now. So far, they have been quite cooperative in letting me capture their rituals. The process lasts just a few short seconds but they do it multiple times a day. Well, more like 3 times in 3 hours or so I was there on multiple days. Match that, Homo sapiens!
These are 8 images out of many captured last Wednesday. To my chagrin, the approach the male falcon took in this sequence was more from above. So, quite a few frames show clipped bodies and wings before the male landed. I was hoping for the male to come more from behind rather than from above. My frame of mind and therefore my setup was on the “greedy” side. I was aiming to get the most pixels feasible without the need of much cropping. I left more room to the left side since I anticipated the male falcon would go off in the direction of the ocean, which is left from me, after dismounting.
Based on the wing position of the male, the original of the first two images showed too much empty space to the left and right. As such, I decided to crop both sides more to get a more squarish format. And I did that more so for the first than for the second.
Thank you for stopping by and I appreciate your feedback,
Joshua
