Re: L Lens Hoods, 300MM 2.8 IS, 200MM f/2 and 300mm Non-IS f/2.8

Here are some pictures and dimensions for you.

The ET-118 was for the Original 300mm F2.8 L USM Lens. I have seen two different versions of these marked ET-118, and a third type marked ET-118 II.

The ET-120 was for the first version of the Image Stabilized 300mm F2.8 IS L USM.

The ET-120 (WII) was for later versions of the Image Stabilized 300mm F2.8 IS L USM.

As far as I can tell the dimensions of the ET-120 and the ET-120 (WII) are the same. The mounting lip on the ET-120 is aluminum and the mounting lip on the ET-120 (WII) is plastic. The thumb screw design changed also.

The ET-120 and ET-120(WII) will fit on the older (first version no IS) of the F2.8 300mm. They will be slightly loose (They can be rotated even when the thumb screw is tightened all the way). They will stay in place.

The ET-118 is too small to fit on the newer 300mm F2.8 IS lenses.

The inside diameter of the ET-118 is about 5.08 inches at the top of the hood. The length measured from end to end is about 5.47 inches. When mounted on the lens it extends 4.57 inches from the front most lip of the lens.

The ET-120 dimensions are 5.32 Diameter and end to end length 5.70 inches. When mounted on a 300m F2.8 IS lens it extends 4.83 from the front most lip of the lens.

Here are some pictures.
