Re: Pre-order: Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G lens

There are times when I wonder whether the forums here stray from their objective, which for me are to inform without going overboard. Since I have a perfectly good 35mm all I really want to know is whether or not this lens obviates the need to buy a 16/17-28/35. In my experience as a landscape photographer, mainly recently with Leica, I am usually at one end or other of this range but rarely in between. Whether the extremes are 17-20 or 28-35 makes little difference. That said, I suspect I will be better with a zoom than a prime, particularly as I feel a 20mm fast prime is less useful than a fast 35/45.

There are times when I wonder whether the forums here stray from their objective, which for me are to inform without going overboard. Since I have a perfectly good 35mm all I really want to know is whether or not this lens obviates the need to buy a 16/7-28/35. In my experience as a landscape photographer, mainly recently with Leica, I am usually at one end or other of this range but rarely in between. Whether the extremes are 17-20 or 28-35 makes little difference. So, I suspect, I will be better with a zoom than a prime, particularly as I feel a 20mm fast prime is less useful than a fast 35/45.
