More snowstorm photos, but in color this time. Last one is from the same walk. For a moment the clouds drew apart and showed a sky filled with Polar stratospheric clouds. They are a rare phenomena that can occur in winter when strong winds in the mountains drive moisture up into the stratosphere, where it condenses into clouds. Since the sun is at a low angle in winter it can shine at them from below, which gives these iridescent colors.
