Tigers in different lights, literally and more (Image heavy)
I spent 8 glorious days in the jungles of India this Jan with two close friends. The days were mixed with unbelievable sightings, so so sightings and some disappointing days. But that's what tiger safaris are all about. In general the winter light in the jungle is great, however we had tiger sighting in glorious light, dappled light, fog, cloudy, in dark shade, overcast, rain, in short anything and everything. I'll mix in some other fun shots as well.
A bit of background about the tigers in Bandhavgadh. When I was there in 2015, Rajbehra female as hurt in a territory fight with her daughter, Spotty. She also had another daughter, Dotty. Rajbehra was recently featured in the BBC special Dynasties http://www.bbcamerica.com/shows/dynasties/cast-crew/raj-bhera . Apparently she was killed in a territory fight.
Dotty's most recent litter of 3 male cubs with Mahaman (male) was the most rewarding experience for us. The 3 male cubs are 2 years old and we were able to get multiple sighting of the family, with 4 of them photographed well. The Mahaman male was elusive and hence no good shots.
As you will see, it's on this trip I learnt the value of auto ISO since the light was changing so fast. Most of these shots have minor editing.
On a sad note Solo another tigeress also had small cubs and one of her cubs was attacked by a marauding male and inspite of the best efforts of the Forest department, could not be found and is presumed dead.
Since I am going into my tax season, not sure if I'll be able to process many shots (unless I am really down ) hence the image heavy post.
