Ah, but it does flip up:

Alas, not down for high tripod use.

now I remember my problem with it was not no flip LCD but how you shoot in portrait mode? Original Hassy was so nice designed with squire format.

At minimal, it should allow flip up in portrait mode. Anyway, I love its design and like the fact the back can be put on 500 series as well.

Off topic.

Also off topic but that's my biggest gripe with the camera.. You cannot shoot portrait mode.
The camera looks cool (I want to buy the MOON EDITION) but it's stupidly designed without a larger square sensor it just misses the mark. I think the Leaf backs or Hy6 cameras or something had a rotating back, too bad Hasselblad couldn't figure out internal rotating sensor.

Though I also won't buy Hasselblad again due to the fact that they treated me very poorly on after sales support.

Easiest way is the camera having a square design with LCD flip both way. This camera is so beautiful and seems very small. Too bad designer didn't think of this fundermental issue in real world.

Isn't that what the X1DII is for? I think the 907 is really designed as a bridge for the back which really is designed for the film bodies. If I were to consider a 907 (I'm not) I'd be getting a 503 body or similar to hook it up to and set the ratio to 33x33 and be done with it. Or just get a loupe for the rear screen and do the same thing with XCD lenses. Or even HC lenses with the adaptor.

The back is to get sales from film body shooters and the *camera* is to than get them to invest in XCD lenses, which in turn is a transition to an X1D body.

Hasselblad have also just announced a new *pancake* 45mm f4. Looks to be a replacement for the 45mm 3.5. Smaller, sharper, lighter, cheaper and apparently mechanically linked focus ring. This new lens on the 907, shot square would be a heck of a lot of fun.

In a way the SL system was Leicas way of bridging the old and new (with M, L and S lens compatibility). The 907 is the same in this regard. It's just not the jack of all trades the SL2 is.

Yes, but this 907 is only one I am interested and if it is a square sensor I’d be seriously consider it. And it might have potential to get me order X1Dx as well. I certainly will enjoy shooting 1X1 but not for everything. And if I do portrait format (30~50%) without awkward holding I am at 33X22 which is smaller than FF, WTF?

I really do like its design but did they ever think about how much sell they lose because of this fundamental design issue. This is a serious weakness.

That 45mm is awesome and remind me of Sigma 45mm. Very similar design diagram actually and with real focus ring. Everyone manufactures now get it but not Leica.
