I’m not sure anyone has been trashing this lens. Most of the quibbles so far are about price and rendering, which is often subjective. The Sigma 35/1.2 looks like a lovely lens but is something I would never buy due to its size. If I were a professional, I’d be all over that lens.
I totally get why folks who are clamoring for a small, high quality 35mm prime are excited about this lens, and it looks like a good option. It should pair beautifully with the 85/1.8. But everyone has different requirements, and these days I’m not particularly motivated to get dedicated coverage at every focal length.
