Are ZEISS Polarizer Filters the Same as Sony's Polarizer Filters?

I'm looking to pickup a polarizer filter for an 85 GM and I wanted something that would cut a stop or two of light (so no high transmission). From what I can tell, it looks like the ZEISS and the older Sony filters are exactly the same, save for the Sony branding. However, Sony launched an updated version alongside the 135 GM. It also has the ZEISS T* coating like the other two, but they are marketing it as being specifically optimized for GM lenses. Is this just marketing hype or should I just go with the less expensive older models or maybe another brand?
