This combo made me a believer of Leica L mount lenses. I’m a big M Mount fan already, but awesome to finally shoot Leica lenses at 47mp. Only semi issue is the S1R focusing, it’s a little sketchy indoors. Just kind of spoiled with an A7r3 and eye-AF. Many times the Panny will barely track (shown via an outline with a green square) a subject’s head, while the Sony will pick out and hold an eye in the exact same situation. The IQ is worth it tho, can’t wait for the SL2.
A Leica rep told me the SL2 will have a similar sensor but re-made, thus the L Mount Leica lenses may shine even brighter on it. Also check out Sean Reid’s site Reid Reviews, his tests show the latest gen of M lenses (28 Lux, 28/2.8 Elmarit, 75 APO as performing better in some regards on the SL than M10; thus the SL2 may utilize M lenses better than any camera we’ve ever seen. Very exciting.
Also check out the 35 APO, truly an awesome piece of glass. I only used on it an SL, but still blown away.
