If the performance is as good as the 100-400, why is it a G rather than a GM? I am pretty sure Sony did not decide on G rather than GM so they could lower the price.
For BIF, the 100-400/1.4x is 560/8 and the 200-600 is 600/6.3, which permits 1.6X faster shutter (*). That's significant, if the optical performance and AF speed/accuracy is there. But if the optical performance and AF is there, why not a GM?
