Disappointing if true. A 200-600/4-5.6 GM would be much more interesting.
I agree since the f/5.6 would make the AF to perform well with the 2X TC on the A9. And frankly, I would be happy with a more limited range, such as of 200-500mm f/5.6 to keep the weight/bulk at bay.
Well, we will have to wait several days to find out whether that rumored lens is for real.
Nikon has got their 200-500/5.6, also f/5.6 all the way, so the potential Sony lens is no worse at the short end.
