Re: FF Mirrorless, what's it going to take Sony, Canon, Nikon | |
I used to come here to learn about photography, but the culture here has changed. There are more and more threads, especially cross-posted, about which dady is bigger or stronger, and this is certainly one of them. Usually, these kind of threads will take us nowhere, IMO.
If I were in charge of this forum, I would open a separate section, which would be dedicated to the industry, marketing or similar, to leave existing sections to photographers.
Some people like to be in the "winning crowd", and they're constantly feeding with kind of information, which will prove, yes I made right choice.
To me, that didn't matter back then, and it doesn't matter now.
When I picked my system decades ago, Canon was bigger than Nikon, but I liked Nikon better.
Recently, Fuji is nowhere close to the industry leaders, but I use Fuji (Nikon PF may get me back to DSL, 300mm and 500mm are so unique). So do I care who sells the most, actually, I don't.
To close out this post, and to answer the topic question: whoever wants to improve numbers, it should realize that marketing tools have been changed. Build the product to satisfy "professional youtube reviewers" and spend money on those, that may help more than quality of you product. It doesn't take much to see how many subscribers some of those have. People who buy first time new product unfortunately learn from them, not from professional highly rated photograpers.
Those are too busy doing what they're the best at, they don't have time to promote products for gear manufacturers.
