Few sample pictures of Nikon 24-70/2.8 S and early impression.
I picked mine up a few days ago as it was released locally here on April 11th.
So far so good. Unfortunately, I sold my 24-70/2.8e VR before 24-70/2.8s is arrived so I have nothing directly to compare.
However, the lens feels quite substantial despite its smallish size. Focus ring has a bit more resistance to it than Otus and feel much nicer than the usual Nikon G lens in my opinion but I would prefer a little less resistance personally. The programmable ring is nice. I set it to EV control and it is out of the way and much much less prone to accidental adjustment than the ring on
50/1.8s and 35/1.8s.
AF is very fast on Z7 and low light focus is almost instantaneous and hunted much less than any other lenses that I tried on Z7 so far.
In my mind, 24-70/2.8e VR is sharp enough but I think its rendering is the best part about the lens. Very organic looking, nice 3D pop but 24-70/2.8 S just screams sharp to me right from the beginning. However, this is still very early and I am sure there will be other more qualified people who will give much more thorough review and impression soon.
