From the notes on Adobe's blog, it looks like the processing utilizes the GPU, so I'm guessing Fred's rig uses something better than integrated graphics. There are some other best practice notes there and an interesting read:
Lightroom gives me 20 sec. estimate time but on my Mac Pro, the real time is about 12-15s depending on the image:

I use the BlackMagic eGPU 580 with my 2018 MBP. Since this new Enhance Deatils feature is supposed to use the GPU, I am curious to compare Enhance Details time estimate with the numbers you listed with your MBP but I don't see any Estimated Time message when I run the process. Is there some menu setting to turn time estimate on/off?
