2nd stop in India as previously mentioned was Mahabalipuram, home of rock carved temples from 6th C.

One of the temples cut into the rock. Most impressive thing about these is that the rock is GRANITE !!!

Interesting carved figures inside temples. You can clearly see where visitors have touched the figures, their skin oils darkening the spots, presumably for luck or I'm not sure.
