Are you talking the Series E and the Japanese short throw 50/1.8? I think the Japanese copy is multicoated where the E is single coated. Only time I saw any difference was shooting into the sun; and barely at that.
No, not the series e 50. There were 2 pancakes made each for Japan and USA with Nikkor branding.
