Owls


Found in all regions and myriad ecosystems of Earth except polar ice caps and some remote islands, the owl has fascinated us humans for millennia. With around 200 different species, and sizes ranging from 5” (and 1 oz), to the large Eurasian Eagle Owl at 28” (9 lb), they are finely tuned killing machines. With staggeringly acute hearing & vision, near-silent flight and lethal talons, these all come together to make them finely tuned killing machines for capturing their prey, consisting mostly of insects, small rodents, rabbits, other birds, and for some, even fish. With fourteen neck vertebrae (compared to our seven), they can rotate their heads up to 270 degrees.
