Re: FM Review of the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 Nokton
I bought this lens to give it a test run during the holidays as my social event lens and it's been holding up well. Here are some notes:
- I didn't know I would enjoy 40mm so much, so that was a learning experience.
- F1.2 and F1.4 were difficult to nail focus at social events. I am wondering if MF is the right choice for this use case and FL
- Lovely rendering, great separation.
- Wonderful size for the occasion and ability, and that might dictate the MF vs. AF discussion. If I am casually bringing around my camera to a dinner party or picnic, I don't want to bring a Zeiss 35/1.4. But given how difficult it was for me to get focus on several pictures, I will have to keep a close "EYE" on the Batis 40/2 to see how it goes.
