I had to check this out, not having noticed anything myself. I can indeed hear a plastic on plastic rubbing sound when turning the camera on and off with the 24GM. By contrast when doing the same the 55 sounds like something loose is inside rattling around. If you’re trying to hear something, changing the aperture is audible. Nothing I hear am I concerned about.
If you're worried about the AF noise don’t try the 85GM. Both can be heard, I don’t think either are a problem.
