One nice thing if you own a late MacBook Pro with Usb-C then you also have an extra charger for free and the possibility to download directly from camera to the computer using the same cable you're charging with. Not a big deal but it's nice when for once you can re-use stuff between completely different devices.

Z7 and Zeiss 85 Planar ZF.2

I don't even have a XQD card reader yet. So I have to use usb-C cable from Z7 to transfer file.

Autumn is everywhere, it is good time for Z7 owners to show some color.

Has anybody notice that when you push "i" button, the LCD looks darker than normal manual screen. It seems I can't change it by changing LCD brightness. Under full sun, the icon from 'I' manual was harder to read.

One more information is: for 58mm G, I still need enter AF fine tune -5 for Auto-Area mode with face detection on. So I believe under this mode, it is pure PDAF.

24-70 s

This one shoot in 16:9 mode, I told you, this is a wonderful feature in field that you can select on fly. Fn2 and back wheel, no need to remove your eye from view finder.

edit: I think I made a wrong claim that single point AFC and AFS are hybride AF, upon further test, I believe they are all PDAF. I don’t know what happen with my setting yesterday. Now I believe Z7’s Auto area face detection is not as good as D850. My focus fine tune was just compensate its back focus problem with face detection on. It can lock to back eye which seldom happen with D850. I noticed it’s back focus behavior with 70-200f4 during auto area with face detection on as well even with good day light. Not a big deal for me personally, but I hope it can be more reliable with future firmware update. I need a fast S glass to confirm if S glass having hybrids AF. Or maybe a real low light setting for FTz and F glass to see if Z7 have CDAF for f glass at all. Will update this later. Sorry for the wrong info, guys.

However, for single point, I always get reliable results either on AF-C and AF-S with or without fine tune. So, you don't need worry AF-fine tune will screw up your AF results for other AF setting. Z7 actually have better AF accuracy then D850 with 58G with single point AF. The brilliant 28E is about same for both D850 and Z7 though theoretically Z7 will always give better accuracy due to extra CDAF step. I think Nikon use hybrid AF for single point based on behavior.

If you think D850 is always having advantage on AF, at least Z7 beat it for AF coverage and slightly better accuracy for lens like 58G under single point mode.(I haven't look other AF setting yet) Keep in mind, I have no complain about AF of D850, the results from 58G and D850 are useable for me for almost all the cases I throw at it. I think the difference is: Under single AF point mode, Z7 is always give 'optimized' AF results due to extra CDAF come to play.
