Some of the guys you are talking about must have been before my time, although I have been on since ~mid 2012, soon after I bought the D800 and stumbled into manual focus. Glad I didn't come across porta potty photos.
There's also Allen (?) who posts I think from Texas, he has occasionally showed up since. Then Georg, who I sorely miss, learned to dabble in the PC lenses seeing his excellent work with the 28 3.5 PC.
