Quite recently I've stumbled across Robert O'Toole's blog posts about Nikon Scanner lenses and was very impressed with his reviews of exotic lenses for macro photography.
So I butchered my Nikon LS-40 Coolscan to retrieve its highly corrected (i.e. APO, flat field, no distortion) Scanner Nikkor (7 Elements) lens and to find out how it will perform on a Sony A7 full frame camera.
The following pictures are my first attempts with an improvised setup at 1.5x magnification. It shows the mainboard of the lenses former home. The electronic components look to me like aerial views of housing blocks, gas tanks, water tanks etc.
All with Sony A7 and Scanner Nikkor (7 elements) lens, uncropped, no CA correction, no vignetting correction.
You will find more information about scanner lenses, their history and their use in macrophotograpy on the websites of Robert O'Toole, Marco Cavina and Enrico Savazzi.
