Tadoba Tiger Reserve Chronicles 2018 - Round 1 | |
I had visited Tadoba Tiger Reserve in India in 2016. At that time I was lucky enough to have amazing sighting of 2 adult tigresses, Choti Tara (with her very young 2 cubs) (Choti in hindi means Jr. so she was the cub tigress, Tara) and Maya (who would not make eye contact), plus a bonus sighting of a male, Pandu.
I got to visit there again last month, with Subrat, when i was reconnected with my nemesis, Maya with 2 cubs of her own and the 2 cubs of Choti Tara, now sub adults or almost adults, with territory of their own. Sadly I could not get to see my fav Choti Tara again, but I heard that she had relocated from her previous territory to make room for her 2 cubs.
The 2 cubs in 2016 were extremely shy, but now showed the characteristics of their mother, and were full of confidence and swagger. The 3 of them are collared by WWF (which I have removed digitally).
In addition we had quality sighting of Choti Madhu, Sonam and her 3 cubs. I also sighted 2 other cubs but could not photograph them due to the dense vegetation. All told 13 different tigers were sighted with 10 photographed and good sighting. A very worthwhile trip. Happy to report that the tiger counts as per the last census in Tadoba was on the increase
Subrat had to leave a couple of days earlier, so I had the chance to photograph other fauna, since when he is in the Jeep, the driver/guide did not stop for anything except tigers. Sorry Subrat, had to say that.
I got some quality shots of Langur subadults mock fighting and others as you will see and you can decide for yourself
