It would be really nice to know the truth about this. This thread is the #2 hit on a Google search for the subject, after Arthur Morris's blog post.
I can't help thinking that if there really were nothing to it, Canon would have bent over backwards to mend fences with Morris, and been active online when the subject came up. Yes, even in this thread. The two big NY retailers are here like a shot if anyone posts about having trouble with them. But maybe I am making unrealistic expectatiins of a Japanese company culturally.
And I'm reading the thread because I realise I do have a use for a "do it all" body that I can use at f/11 for landscape and at f/4 for wildlife. Until I saw this thread I had no idea there was alleged to be a problem.
