Having been unfortunate enough to have two of these horrifically bad cameras in my possession for just on 2 years after suffering with the 1Dx pair for almost 4 years i can only say how bad they are.
The intense green banding when shooting at ISO 6400 and temperatures of -40C is completely intolerable. So bad i contacted Canon Australia but they ignored my message entirely.
It may have been the fact i had shot over 3500 photos on the single battery in the camera that day causing sensor heating im not sure.
I cant confirm Sony has an issue as a good mate had his A series body run out of batter y power after only 350 images.
Good for him to not have the chance to shoot and have his night landscapes ruined at ISO6400 by this banding issue.
As for spatter both my 1Dx and Mk 2 have suffered terrible dust and spatter issues and yes i am very disappointed with Canon for inflicting such a terrible body on photographers..
I mean come on Canon..
Regarding autofocus i am continually disappointed with out of focus areas in my shots from the 1DxMk2..
Small targets are a particular problem.
The night tracking particularly in cold temperatures like -30 and heavy snow is particularly bad does anyone have any tips? Maybe its because of low battery power having shot almost 4000 photos that day?
The size and color of the lenses is an issue as well scaring birds away on site something needs to be done.
The metering is also completely deficient on both the X and XMk2 i mean come on whats with the black Moose?
All this talk of how bad these 1Dx and Mk2 cameras are is making me angry.
Time to take my crappy 1DxMK2 cameras and get out of here all this talk of EVF cameras being so fabulous, having incredible battery life, amazing autofocus, fabulous lens line ups, update rates faster than reality is making me jealous.
Im not sure how the reviewer off the previous page could possibly call the 1DxMk2 the “perfect camera” given reports from at least two people in the world that it sucks.
Does anyone have any sensor swabs?
