I haven't heard complaints about this issue on other Nikons than the D600.
I typically clean once per year with low powered vacuum (some cameras such as the D5 I have not needed to clean in 22 months of use). I don't apply aggressive filtering to amplify possible issues, I just shoot normally. My typical use for the D5 is at wide apertures but when I have shot stopped down (e.g. groups), I haven't found spots. I am not saying there can't be a few but I haven't found them yet.
