Re: CR: Canon Sends Invitation For Major Mirrorless Presentation

Regarding lens mount options, there aren't that man ways for Canon to go with a potential high end mirrorless camera body:

1. Use the EF mount. Possible but not so likely, as it would be contrary to the desire for smaller body.

2. Use the M mount. Probable, since Canon already uses it for mirrorless, it retains the smaller body size, and it can use EF lenses with an adapter.

3. Use some other new mount that we've not seen before. Don't bet on that one.

I'd bet on the M mount plus adapter, with a gradual introduction of better M lenses over time. (Sort of a Sony-style intro, except that the adapted and new lenses will all come from Canon.)

Time will tell.

2. Use the EFS mount. Possible, but not likely either, as it is the same size as EF... plus designed mainly to deal with mirror issues.

3. Use the M mount. Probable, since Canon already uses it for mirrorless, it retains the smaller body size, and it can use EF lenses with an adapter.
