The addition of the gel stick was around the end of my 1D IV and I have used it faithfully ever since purchasing it with my 1Dx and now the 1Dx II.
I'm pretty sure that a lot of people if they were to shoot at f/22 and higher and do hdr they would find out that they had some issues with dust and possibly lubricant. This is not just a Canon issue as Nikon has had oil, lubricant issues as well. Dust from lens caps when changing lenses and dust in the air, has always been an issue no matter the brand.
My 1Dx shutter died a premature life at the age of 280k clicks.
Maybe the lubricant was all used up... ahahaha
It is not at all hard to believe this thread is still going on. People are still sending me files, and people are still interested in this topic. Furthermore, while I and therealthing may be posting the most, people are still obviously reading this thread, and like I said, people are still sending me RAWs.
At this point the purpose of this thread is to get more people to send me their files, to alter current owners of the camera to potential issues, and to warn potential buyers of the 1DX Mark II of the issues.
You have obviously not read the entirety of the thread. Cleaning these sensors can be quite a feat, and sometimes impossible. Regular maintenance has nothing to do with what's going on here.
The sensor lines you refer to are not scratches but within the sensor stack. This was acknowledged by Canon on my original 1DX Mark II when they replaced its sensor. The lines appear on many cameras and have absolutely nothing to do with cleaning.
IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE PEOPLE STILL FEEL THE NEED TO COMMENT WHEN THEY DON'T READ THE THREAD AND FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON.
