It is always tricky going out and shooting both sunset/night, given the difference in conditions you want for the two. This was one of the rare cases where things broke perfectly, with enough clouds for an interesting sunset that then cleared up in time for darkness for nice clear milky way skies.
Add one of my favorite locations, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, and it was a great night.
