I know the more oil speck or dust on the sensor is not perfect but I found no sensor can guarantee no dust no debris so more or less I still need the cleaning stuff ready anytime.
The coating on the sensor is different between the 1Dx and MKII. The latter has a raw surface that is more likely to just move the dirt with a cleaning job.
Doesn't eclipse fluid leave residue behind on the sensor? The Canon rep i spoke with told me that Canon Japan instructed to clean with break cleaning fluid only because it evaporates so quicky that it does not leave smears on the sensor and dissolves oil quickly.
Have you done the blue sky test on your camera as well? I am interested to see how clean you can get it with your cleaning approach. And discover where your level of 'acceptance' lies with this camera.
I cleaned my 1Dx2 about 2 times now, so far so good, I always have heavy post processing on the sky area that will make any light oil specks punch out from the picture, so I’m quite serious on the sensor clean. I will cleaning and check if any issue come out after more cycle of cleaning
