This is one of the reasons I love living in the UK - public rights of way. I have a choice of paths in 7 different directions within 5 minutes walk of the house and it is the same throughout much of the country. This particular path has been cut by the farmer through his own field of wheat (not all do this) , admittedly using the tracks of his sprayer as a starting point (not sprayed recently incidentally!):
