And from the market. There are farmers' markets most days in one or another community, but the two major markets at both in San Rafael. The largest is Sunday morning. The operators of that market have been given permission by the Board of Supervisors for Marin County to construct a building to house the market. It operates year round on Civic Center vacant parking lots, rain or shine. The second large market is Thursday morning and early afternoon. That is the one we visited. I was carrying produce so didn't have much freedom to take photos but I got three worth sharing.

Always love to see market shots from around the world. Interesting to see the eggs just sitting on the table. Here in Virginia, we are required to keep them cold until the time of purchase. How much were they for a dozen?

Sorry Leighton, but I wasn't shopping for eggs and didn't check the price.

I agree with you, market shots are always interesting and it definitely is fun to see markets from around the world. I'll re-post a shot from Istanbul during my visit in 2012 with Rinie. This was shot with the 50 f/1.2 AI-s.

I've been reading about the benefits of eating a vegan diet... no meat, poultry, fish or dairy, so I'm developing a deeper appreciation for all the lovely fruits and vegetables one finds in a market...

I remember this shot. What a beautiful variety of produce. I wonder if our old friend Monty is still a vegan?

I forgot about that Leighton. Interesting as I've been doing my reading and viewing, how many athletes are turning to a vegan diet. Without protein from meat, these athletes are having great success. Of course, when reminded that protein is produced by plants and exists in meat only because they eat plants, I guess that shouldn't be surprising. One thing that surprised me when doing my research is that a mother's milk has around 2 percent protein in it. Nature says that is an adequate amount of protein for an infant to grow into childhood. I think we misunderstand our body's need for protein and likely eat too much meat, fish and poultry.
