Yes, it was history and it happened long time ago but a recent visit to a plantation, Oak Alley, in the South left an impression on me. Over 220 men, women and children were enslaved at that sugar plantation. Dehumanized and quantified like any other commodity, they appear in sales records and inventories. Yet as people they have been forgotten by history. Currently, it is a place where you can look back into the dark side of history and imagine how it was back then.

The caption of the first image is the inscription of that wall.
