Underplaying the value of having 4k video is crazy, like completely insane. It's like saying "I dont need 24mp, 6mp is good enough". How many people do you hear saying that? You can hardly even buy a 1080p television anymore... the time for every camera to have mandatory 4k is upon us, making excuses is silly.

Anyone for a little hyperbole?

Some folks buy a truck without a navigation system, dvd, wireless and a killer sound system and full power goodies and leather. By your assertion of it's increased commonplace being the rationale that it is insane to not have 4K video is insane, then it would be similarly insane to buy a truck without all those other things since they are commonly capable of being included as well ... IDK, and just be a truck rather than a mobile entertainment mecca, etc.

Some folks just want a camera to be a camera (i.e. stills, not a video camera). If you want a killer video camera, get a killer video camera. If you want a killer video camera and still camera, buy two cameras ... or buy one camera with both in it ... but you probably oughta break out your piggy bank cause it's not likely gonna go for the same $$$. BTW, the Pentax K-1 doesn't have 4K video either (again, around $2K).

BUT, calling it "insane" about an entry FF (with articulating display) for the $$$ not having top spec video, just seems a little much ... go spend your $$$ on what you want, but wanting a Ferrari for the price of a Chevy or saying its insane to have a truck with ... OMG ... a manual transmission (when automatic transmission are so prevalent) is insane.

Where is the hyperbole in my post? 4k is not top specification, my 3 year old phone can shoot in 4k for gods sake. My comparison between stills MP of 6mp and 24mp is the exact same ratio between as 1080p and 2160p video. You know that you can have a killer video AND stills in one camera with no sacrifices right? The fact that you think you need to buy 2 different multiple thousand dollar cameras to achieve that is ridiculous. I get it, you don't care how crappy your videos look 10 years from now, but to act like it doesn't matter on a $2000 camera because Canon has convinced you that you have to buy a separate video camera to be able to shoot decent 4k video is ridiculous.

Are you seriously trying to make the comparison that you don't want GPS in your vehicle either? What year is it again? Your arguments are completely non nonsensical, this isn't an entry level camera (of which many actually still have 4k video capabilities).
