I am not familiar with the Little Egret. BTW......closest relative does not cut it this time Christian. You challenged.
"But the bird in this image is actually a Cattle Egret, originally an African species found in many temperate and tropical zones around the world today."
Please, if you challenge an ID...... then you must back it up with Diagnostic Characteristics.
Oh, never mind, because I gave the DC's in my comment. Do you see yellow slippers on the bird Christian? That's the first DC of the Snowy.
Please do your homework first Christian. Be specific. Yes, the Cattle is an African native and has expanded its range. It is also true that you just picked that fact off the web. I know. If you really had depth on the subject, you would have known what Diagnostic Characteristics are.
And now you do. Because I told you Christian. Now go ahead and look it up. Next time you will know
You see, mine comes from 40 years in the profession. No further comment.
Time to put down the crack pipe, lol. Manojodungat's bird is a Cattle Egret. Shape, size, coloring - everything fits. At any rate, Cattle Egrets are roughly the same size as Little Egrets, but stockier. (There are no Snowy Egrets in India.) Great Egrets are much bigger birds, nearly as large Grey Herons.
