I do believe the first one you posted Will is a Snowy Egret, though the slippers are not as bright as I am used to seeing back here in the east (Everglades) and rarely here in Maine.
So I looked up the range and according to the map the Snowy does nest in the Land of Enchantment. But you would know better than I because you are there.
And maybe you already knew the first one was a Snowy. And maybe you have them nesting around your place. It has to be right over water for the Snowy. So that Snowy was taking material to its nest site.

Thanks much! Not sure as we have 1/2 a dozen varieties of egrets as well as BCNH at a local rookery
about 2 miles from my place. No standing water per se rather a rotating # of flooded pastures they feed
at. A few scouts go out 1st thing in the morning and report back on the "hot spots". Currently have ~300
mixed bag egrets and maybe a couple dozen BCNH. They keep me amused and they're good practice.
