Thanks! There is a huge amount of water in the valley and many waterfalls springing up all over the place. Still, it was cold enough on the valley floor that I sat through 3 or 4 snow showers waiting for the fireball (and figuring it would likely not happen) so perhaps it is cold enough up top to decrease the amount of melt from the snow pack. It does not seem to take much water, but gusty wind helps generate more spray and it was not very windy.
