Well, I don't shoot a lot of birds, so at this point the 300 2.8 along with the 2x converter still seems like the best solution to me.
My preference for safari's is places where you can get a bit closer too. Might add a little M5 to the kit though to get that extra reach if needed. It's just that it does looks like an amazing lens; need to release some GAS I guess (sorry for the smell )
