Re: Sigma 500 Sport - First Impressions

this lens is looking quite good. There's a Dutch review where they also tested it against the 500L II; they say IQ is practically identical: http://natuurfotografie.nl/review-sigma-500mm-f4-dg-os-hsm-sport/

perhaps someone can give me some solid advice. Right now I have a 100-400 II and a 300 2.8 II (which I got for a very good price as demo unit) and 2x converter. The 300 is mostly for low light or shots with 2.8 rendering at 2.8, or at 600mm with the extender.

For African safari's (mostly mammals), would you say it could be an idea to trade in or sell the 300 2.8 II + converter, and get the new Sigma + 1.4 converter?
