btw, I think we missed each other by a week, as I was at Bosque over the Christmas holiday... I felt like I had the refuge to myself on the 24th and 25th.

Bruce, thank you for stopping by and for your kind comment! Yup, it certainly looked like we missed each other by a little over a week. There were quite a few photographers while we were there but the number of photographers, just like the number of the sandhill cranes was down relative to several years ago. I remembered that it was not unusual to see 40+ photographers at the Crane Pool at sunset back then and now I would say about 10 or so during our last trip. The sandies seem to be present at a nearby refuge but the roosting place is not accessible, I understood.
We are thinking out loud of getting together starting in the first weekend of December of this year. It would be great if you could make it.
