Re: Could you go back to film?

It seems that at several issues/questions are becoming conflated in this thread:

1. "Could" one go back to film?

2. Would you go back to film?

3. Do you prefer film or digital?

5. What place does film have today in your photography?

5. What is the state of film today in the overall world of photography? Strong as ever? Much less but still important? Irrelevant? Dying?

6. What are the differences between the two media? (Ignoring, for a moment, the complicated gray areas — scanned film, contact prints from digitally printed enlarged negatives, etc.)

7. Is one or the other objectively better in a variety of ways. (Lots of stuff you can find on this. Here is one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_versus_film_photography)

8. In terms of markets and sales, what has happened, and what trends can we deduce?

9. What are the possible effects on the photography of the future from all of this.

Somehow, I have a sneaking suspicion that we won't resolve all of these things in (yet another) photography forum "film versus digital" debate.
