I would like advice on which locations are \'must-sees\' in your opinion (and why, and which state they are in, and in which season they are best visited). I prefer parks and wilderness, my wife interesting towns and cities. I\'ve been to Florida and Texas before, my wife recently to New York, Chicago and Vegas.
Those places are not really on a road-trip map for us to visit again unless they coincide with a local POI. An example would be Joshua\'s recent series on White Pocket, which is stunning, Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon (where ?), some of the sites in Utah etc. etc. or wonderful little (or large) towns that have something special to see/experience. Give me your Top 10 !
I\'m planning for 2018 as 2017 is mostly booked for a major trip such as the 4-6 weeks my wife and I hope to spend over there. We will probably fly - drive to shorten time spent on the road. Undecided yet on a camper or motels/B&Bs. We are in our 50\'s.

There are so many places to visit in the US. Are you looking for spectacular landscape? We have 59 US National Parks with a large number of National Monuments, many State Parkls, etc.
The greatest number of National Parks are in Utah which has 5 National Parks and also a large number of National Monuments and State Parks. The 5 Utah National Parks are: Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP, Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, and Capitol Reef NP. These are all beautiful National Parks. Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP are on the south west side of Utah and relatively close to the north rim of the Grand Canyon NP. Cedar Breaks National Monument is also near Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP. Zion NP also has a separate portion not contiguous with the rest of the park in Kolab Canyon. On the east side of Utah you have Arches NP and Canyonlands NP which are near Moab Utah. They have the greatest concentration of Arches in the World. Canyonlands is the larger of the 2 parks with more Arches than Arches NP but it is much larger. Canyonlands NP is broken into 3 sections, the Island in the Sky which is what most people see because it is easy driving. The other 2 sections are the Needles and the Maze which require 4 wheel drive. Not far from Canyonlands NP is Dead Horse Point State Park which shares the Colorado River with the National Park and each park looks in on the other. Fisher Towers are not far from Moab as well. Additionally, Monument Valley is relatively close to Moab and is in Utah and Arizona. Most of Monument Valley is on Navajo Indian land and there is a fee for entry as is the case for the National Parks.
Do not underestimate the size of Utah. It is approximately 8 hours of driving from Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP to Arches NP and Zion NP and Moab Utah. It is a large state.
If you are going to visit many National Parks on your visit, you may consider getting the National Parks Pass which as I recall is about $80 rather than spending the fees to enter each park.
Other beautiful Parks to consider are Yellowstone NP in Wyoming, Montana, and Utah, Grand Teton NP in Wyoming and only about 28 miles away from the south end of Yellowstone NP. Additionally there is also Glacier National Park in northern Montana near Kalispel.
In California there is Yoesemite NP, Joshua Tree NP, Muir Woods (Redwood trees), Sequoia NP (Redwoods), etc.
In Colorado there is Rocky Mountain NP and other locations to visit.
In Oregon there is Crater Lake NP, many many waterfalls, Columbia River Gorge, etc.
In Washington State there is Mount Rainier NP, Olympic NP, and North Cascades NP.
Anyway, others will make suggestions.
Just don\'t over do it and have sensory overload.
