The external EVF of the RX1 is very good but quite bulky and it falls off easy.
The internal of the RX1RII maybe a bit better and is much easier to use oc.

For me, the biggest drawback to the original RX1 EVF is not that it is external, but that it has a very low dynamic range. Hence, lots of blown highlights and dark shadows that turn out to be fine in the captured photo. I have never used the RX1II, but I suspect that it is improved, probably on the level of the A7II or possibly the A7RII
