It is DXO\'s \"signature\" to associate a lens\' performance with the corresponding body and that\'s fine. But they need to be consistent in using the top of the line body to be more consistent. My point is why did they use an A7r for testing the GM lens? The A7r II has been available close to 11 months now.

There is always a lot of guessing going on when it comes to actually making sense of the meaning of the DXO tests. As many have pointed out in a discussion in another manufacturer\'s forum recently, while we can presume that the underlying measurements conducted by DXO could be accurate and useful, the usefulness of the \"scores\" is quite limited.

A favorite question of mine to those who cite the scores (for or against any brand or model) is: Tell me exactly what the difference in scores means in terms of actual camera performance.\"

The closest I\'ve seen anyone come is to say something that involves a lot of \"if\'s\" and \"perhaps\" and \"I think\'s\" and \"we can assume\'s\" and \"maybe this is what they meant\'s\".

Here, in this case, we see the dissonance between DXO\'s \"scoring\" of the Sony lens below the \"scores\" of lenses from Canon and Nikon, and the positive experience of folks using the Sony lens. This is a repeated theme when it comes to DXO \"scores.\"

My bet? The Sony lens is a pretty good one.
