Re: Official: Hasselblad X1D-50c Medium Format Mirrorless
The X1D looks amazing
We should not be comparing X1D with the A7x series as the technical design of what is achievable will be very different at least for this iteration. With respect to medium format, the design is superb. Comparatively light body and I love the simple user interface. Japanese ergonomic design teams should take a notes from Leica and Hasseblad here.
This is a camera that would sit along side a FF 35mm and not replace it. Medium formats are quirky in that a lot more skills in technique are required to get great shots from them. A lot may aspire to this camera and may be disappointed after getting easy results from the A7rII with IBIS.
Personally if the specs line up, I will eventually get one as I love the format size for portraits. It would appear the rendering/tonality will be inline for that of MF. Also smart move not to exceed the 50MP as it allows for larger pixels in comparison.
The design of the X1D is that of simplicity with 1 or 2 lenses. I love this as this is what excited me immensely when the Leica M9 was first announced. A small, light FF digital with great lenses.
