Re: Sony 85mm 1.4 GM testing thread

It\'s 9 AM in Chicago, time to try and get the conversation back to the lens IQ.....

here\'s a quick snap i took last night of my son on the sofa - it\'s this sort of shot that has me slightly favoring the GM over the Batis. Stopped down to f/2 and beyond their qualities converge but shot at or near wide open, the GM really shines. Fortunately for the Batis, the bokeh never gets nervous - the ONLY thing i don\'t like about the Batis bokeh is the football highlights (which rarely come up in my situations) and the crowd seems to be split on whether or not they like the Batis swirly background that sometimes apears (in the 2 shots i have with it from Sunday, it was actually pretty sweet). If I can convince myself that I\'ll lug this thing around everywhere, the way i would with the Batis, i\'ll choose the GM - but that is something to consider.

OMG (and i never use millennial abbreviations - on the trading floor, when someone is carrying on like their wife, we\'d say \"for fks sake dude, shut up\") but good grief, can we talk about the IQ of this lens and move the second guessing to another thread. 18 pages on this thread in 4 days and more than half talking about noise and now sensor glass, on a thread titled \"lens testing\" ?
